Artist of the month guidelines.
ARTIST, THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN EXHIBITING AT VECCA GALLERY, known as 7 East Gallery located at 123 S. Main Street, Woodstock VA 22664. Currently, the Gallery is open Wednesday through Friday 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. / Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. / Sundays 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. VECCA (Valley Educational Center for the Creative Arts) is an all-volunteer, non-profit educational organization which, as part of its structure, is engaged in exhibition, display, public distribution, and sale of artwork, in order to fulfill part of its mission of enabling opportunities for artists to exhibit or perform their creative skills.
Ideally, an Artist of the Month is not a member of VECCA and willing to exhibit and sell rightfully created and owned 2D and/or 3D artwork listed in the Exhibition Inventory sheet of this agreement. Not for sale work is also acceptable; as well as prints, notecards, or similar inventory.
Definition of Exhibition Artwork: Only original artwork is accepted. Framed Photography and Digital Art will be considered original artwork. 2D work must be properly framed or museum wrapped with a wire hanging system. VECCA provides the Artist of the Month the use of 4 to 5 hangers located on the front exhibition space, as well as a front window area hanger, and the use of two large window easels. Artists are encouraged to visit the Gallery to see the exhibition space prior to installation of a show. Please remember to provide business cards, a bio, and similar information related to your artwork, which can be displayed during the month of your exhibition.
No fee is collected for use of this space; however, Artist of the Month agrees to a 30% commission on sold artwork, which will go to VECCA for non-profit, educational purposes.
Community Events: An Artist’s reception can be held at a date and time negotiable between the Artist and Gallery. VECCA will provide a table with a tablecloth, water, small plates, napkins, and cups. Sponsors are solicited for food and beverages; however, if the Artist has preferences, she or he can contribute to the reception fare or via a donation with a suggested amount of $35 to help cover costs. Artist of the Month is encouraged to participate in either a Demo Day (typically a Saturday from 10a - 2p) or Artist Talk at a date and time negotiable between the Artist and VECCA.
Payment. VECCA shall pay the Artist all proceeds due to the Artist within ten (10) days of the last day of the month in which a piece of exhibited artwork was sold. Sale of artwork is defined as the negotiation for purchase of a work of art on exhibit and the exchange of consideration therefore.
Transportation of Artwork. The Artist shall be solely responsible for delivering the exhibited artwork to VECCA at the above address. Upon expiration or termination of this Agreement, Artist shall be solely responsible for picking up any unsold exhibited artwork at the above address. The Artist shall be solely responsible for all arrangements and shipping expenses (including, but not limited to, packing and shipping charges, insurance costs, and other handling expenses) that may be necessary throughout the duration of this Agreement. Please note: VECCA will not store nor take responsibility for any boxes and/or packing materials used to deliver exhibited artwork. Those items must be unpacked and removed by the artist.
Title/Copyright. Artist warrants and represents that he/she created the artwork, and possesses unencumbered title and full copyright to each and all artwork exhibited to VECCA under this Agreement. VECCA may arrange to have the artwork photographed for catalogues, brochures, advertisements, and other promotional literature. VECCA shall take all steps necessary to ensure that the Artist’s copyright in the exhibited artwork is protected under the Artist’s name.
Insurance. VECCA shall not be responsible for theft, loss, fire, or destruction of any kind to any and all exhibited artwork, storage crates, or other related items (displays, baskets, boxes, etc.) however caused throughout the duration of this Agreement.
Promotion. VECCA will publicize the Artist of the Month’s show to members, as well as post information on VECCA’s social media, website, The Mountain Courier’s Bulletin Board, and in the local chamber newsletter. Any other publicity, such as sending press releases, mailing postcards, or larger newspaper ads, is the responsibility of the Artist.
Abandonment. Artist agrees that any unsold exhibited artwork remaining in VECCA’s possession for no less than fourteen (14) days beyond the expiration or termination of this Agreement will be considered abandoned. On the fifteenth (15th) day after expiration or termination of this Agreement, Artist shall have no further rights to abandoned artwork or payment for any abandoned artwork subsequently sold by VECCA. VECCA agrees to treat abandoned artwork as a tax-deductible donation.
Miscellaneous. All modifications, deletions, and/or additions to this Agreement must be in writing, signed by both parties, and attached to this Agreement. This Agreement constitutes the entire understanding between the parties hereto
