Our third community show theme of 2026 is “Touch Grass: Scavanged Materials & Found Art”.
Go outside, touch grass! Rummage through the attic and garage! This show will feature art that has some sort of scavenged element: art that incorporates found or nontraditional materials as a part of the overall piece.
Mini Mural opportunity for 1 artist. Submit 3 of your works of buildings or your general style, and be considered for the $700 commision to do a painting of a historic valley building.
Deadline April 15 to apply.
We have the rest of the themes mapped out. Finer details to follow, but take a look at all of the 2026 community themes to get a head start on ideas.

Are you interested in joining a thoughtful, exciting learning experience while in a beautiful, historic setting? We are pleased to share that Steven Walker will be teaching a 4-day workshop in Millwood, VA, from May 13-16, and there is room for a few additional students.
Steven has his MFA from Marywood University, has achieved Signature Membership status in Oil Painters of America, and is represented by exclusive US galleries. Steven was recently featured at Alexandria’s Principle Gallery and just completed the Forgotten Coast Plein Air Festival, where one of his paintings won first place in the opening day competition. He explores both traditional and contemporary themes, distinguished by his expressive use of light.
Steven leads hands-on workshops where the artists are serious about their work, supportive of each other, and enjoy a warm, relaxed environment. Students work from source references and are invited to explore their preferred themes, including still life, landscape, urban scenes, and nocturns. Steven works in oil paints, but welcomes students who use other painting mediums.
