Art Made Outdoors: A VECCA-sponsored Community Show that celebrate Plein Air

VECCA sponsors several judged community art exhibitions throughout its fiscal year, November 2023 to October 2024. This form below is for ART MADE OUTDOORS. This show celebrates Plein Air, creating art outdoors. Although traditionally en plein air applies to painting, this show encourages artists of all kinds to incorporate their medium of choice in capturing the theme. Participants should complete this form by JUNE 28TH and drop off their artwork by SUNDAY, JUNE 30TH to VECCA, 123 S. Main Street, Woodstock VA during the hours: 1 to 3 p.m.

Any 2 or 3-dimensional medium is acceptable, as well as writing and music. Traditional, abstract, and any other forms of creative art are encouraged – however, since VECCA-sponsored, judged shows are open to the public of all ages, artwork must be family-friendly (aka, no nudes or overtly grotesque imagery or themes, please).

Judges will award fine art pieces based on originality, quality, and overall presentation for each show in the following manner:

• Best in Show
• First Place
• Second Place
• Third Place
• and up to three honorable mentions.

Visitors to the gallery (located at 123 S Main Street, Woodstock VA) will get a chance to cast their votes for a People’s Choice award, which will provide the winning entry with a one-year VECCA individual or student membership.

– SHOW LOCATION: Valley Educational Center for the Creative Arts, 123 S Main Street, Woodstock VA 22664

– ENTRY FEE: $5 per entry. Up to 4 entries accepted per artist. Payable to VECCA (or use the ART SHOW ENTRY FEE link above). If you pay online please print a copy of your receipt and bring it with you when you drop off your art. Please note: members get two free entries; gallery exhibition artists get another two free entries. All students get 2 free entries; student members get another two free entries.

– ENTRY DEADLINE & DELIVERY DATE: Drop off your artwork during gallery hours the weekend prior to or on SUNDAY, JUNE 30, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. or email VECCArts@gmail.com with questions.

– OPENING RECEPTION: Second Saturday, JULY 13th, 4-6 p.m. All artists are encouraged to be present at the event so that VECCA and the community can celebrate this opportunity with you and your friends and family. Awards will be announced at this reception.

– PICK UP: Sunday, SEPTEMBER 29, 1-3 p.m. Email VECCArts@gmail.com for other arrangements. Artwork may only be removed with the permission of a VECCA coordinator. Every effort will be made to ensure that artwork is handled with care; however, VECCA cannot be held responsible for loss or damage.

– REQUIREMENTS: VECCA membership is not required. All work submitted must be original. Work derived from other copyrighted or printed material (ie books, magazines, etc) or work copied from other Creative Artists will not be accepted. Artwork must be labeled on the back with Artist, Title, Media, and Price. All work must be framed or with a finished look (e.g. clean sides, if an unframed canvas), as well as wired to hang(NO SAWTOOTH HANGERS). VECCA reserves the right to refuse any artwork deemed inappropriate for any reason listed herein.

– COMMISSION: A 30% commission will be collected on all artwork sold. VECCA will use this for continuing its mission for connecting the community with the creative arts. VECCA is run completely by volunteers.
