Bring your art inspired by places outside of Virginia. Landscapes and landmarks, flora and fauna from somewhere else, people, events and culture, architectural details, patterns and design, animals and insects… dig through your travel photos, make art, and show us where you have been!
On the application, please provide a jpeg of your work (in progress is okay!) along with the title, artist, and a jpeg of the piece that inspired it. This is a juried show, and participants will be notified by of acceptance after submission deadline is closed.

I drew inspiration from Picasso, and his cubist works, where elements such as a persons facial features were distorted in their position/perspective. I had a thought that this is what cats think when they take on their liquid form to fit into any box they attempt to squeeze themselves in to. Biggie the cat used as a reference in this piece.

Entry Deadline & Art Drop-off Date
Submission applications deadline is August 23.
Artworks accepted can then be dropped off on Sunday August 24, from 12-2pm at VECCA Gallery.
Artwork Rules/Restrictions
This show will consist of art inspired by places outside of Virginia. Landscapes and landmarks, flora and fauna from somewhere else, people, events and culture, architectural details, patterns and design, animals and insects… dig through your travel photos, make art, and show us where you have been! We ask artists to stay close to the theme, if you have questions, contact us! We encourage work from visual artists, as well as writers, musicians, or any of the creative arts.
Entry Fee
$5 per entry. Up to 4 entries accepted per artist. Payable to VECCA in-person at the gallery, or use the online Art Show Entry Fee below.
If you pay online please print a copy of your receipt and bring it with you when you drop off your art.
Please note:
- VECCA Members get two free entries
- VECCA Gallery exhibition artists get another two free entries.
- All students get 2 free entries
- Student VECCA members get another two free entries.

Art Pick Up
September 28, 12-3pm, or October 4th Email VECCArts@gmail.com for other arrangements. Artwork may only be removed with the permission of a VECCA coordinator. Every effort will be made to ensure that artwork is handled with care; however, VECCA cannot be held responsible for loss or damage.
Requirements
VECCA membership is not required. All work submitted must be original. Artists must own the copyright of their work. Work must be labeled on the back with Artist, Title, Media, and Price. All work must be framed or with a finished look (e.g. clean sides, if an unframed canvas), as well as wired to hang (NO SAWTOOTH HANGERS). VECCA reserves the right to refuse any artwork deemed inappropriate for any reason listed herein.
Commision
A 30% commission will be collected to VECCA on all artwork sold. VECCA uses this towards continuing its mission for connecting the community with the creative arts. VECCA is run completely by volunteers. Sales will be totaled monthly and checks mailed by the middle of the following month.
